Today while going through one of my journals, I came across this entry:

Dated August 17, 1987

Today I read John 3:1 – 21

Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world though Him might be saved.  He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (Verses 3, 5, 6, 16, 17 and 18)

My thought:  I will see the kingdom of God because I have been born again (verse 3)

Conclusion:  Unless I have come to Jesus, God’s one and only Son; unless I have given myself to Him, I will NOT see the kingdom of God, nor will I ever see eternal life.

I affirm this day that I believe Jesus Christ is the one and only begotten Son of Almighty God and through Him and Him only can I receive eternal life.

Therefore:  I am born again by the power of Christ Jesus and according to verse twenty-one, I purpose in my heart to live by the truth and walk in His light. (“But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”)

I wrote these words twenty-seven years ago! I was born again at the age of four years, and do not remember what may have caused the response to the Scriptures that are referenced above.  At the time I was a few days short of my fiftieth birthday. I have gone through many tests and roadblocks.  At times I have stumbled, and even fallen down, but God says:  “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way.  Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the LORD upholds him with His hand.” (Psalm 37:23, 24)  Some of my goals have not been quickly achieved, but I have found that if I just keep trusting and walking in the way of Yeshua/Jesus I will be victorious!  He is the Rock of my salvation!  He is the Living Word of God!  He is the revealed Word of God from Genesis through Revelation.  He is the Torah, He is the Light, He is the Healer, He is the Redeemer, He is the King, He is the Inheritance of the righteous, He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of this world, He is the Prophet’s oracle, He is the Psalmist’s words, He is the sages of Proverbs wisdom, He is the Creator of the Universe, He is the one who orders the sun, moon and stars to shine, He is the God of  Perfection and Order.  He is SALVATION! HE IS MY KING!!!

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

This was God’s call to Jeremiah the prophet. Because God is not a respecter of persons, He knew us before we were formed in the womb, we are all born with a destiny to serve Him.  Sadly, not all of us fulfill our destinies because there are those who refuse to become born again and follow Him and there are those who, although born again refuse to follow and fully obey the call of God on their lives.  When we become born again in Christ Jesus He calls upon all believers to tell others about Him, and He gives us gifts to enable us to do whatever He has called us to do.  Jeremiah was set apart by God and appointed as a prophet to the nations.  Whatever gift He has given us, we are to use it.  The gifts of the Holy Spirit are listed in 1 Corinthians 12:4 – 11

1.      Word of wisdom
2.      Word of knowledge
3.      Faith
4.      Gifts of healings
5.      Working of miracles
6.      Prophecy
7.      Discerning of spirits
8.      Different kinds of tongues
9.      Interpretation of tongues
But one and the same Spirit works ALL these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.  (Verse 11)
            God knew me before I was ever formed in my mother’s womb.  My mother didn’t know me.  I wasn’t even on her mind, nor was yet I a gleam in my father’s eye…and yet God knew me!  God knew what I would succeed at, fail to do, my likes, dislikes, my talents, the color of my eyes and hair, and how much weight I would lose over and over.  He knew the traumas I would suffer and survive.  He knew how many boyfriends I would have.  He knew how many children I would have and how many they would have.  When I became born again, He set me apart for Himself.  Why would he set me apart?  To be a witness for him to;
·         My family
·         My neighbors
·         My church family
·         The merchants I do business with
·         My employer and fellow workers
·         Plus any others I may come in contact with from the grocery cashier to the postal worker.
Looking at the above list tells me I can affect a lot of people.  May I be effective for Him.
Are you born again?  If you are, then you have been set apart.  Being born again is not like acquiring “fire insurance” to stay out of hell.  A person who is genuinely born again, will manifest changes in his life that are very unlike what this carnal world has to offer.  It’s  learning what God wants from us, line upon line, precept upon precept by reading and studying the Word of God, praying for the Holy Spirit’s guidance to teach us and being in fellowship with like-minded believers.  We understand that salvation offered through Jesus Christ is free, yet  in James 2:18, the apostle says : “Yes, a man may say, ‘you have faith, and I have works’:  show me your faith without your works and I will show you my faith by my works.”  After making this statement, James goes on to talk about the faith of Abraham, and the harlot Rahab, and that both were justified not only by their faith but by their works.  Chapter two ends with “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”  Verse 26.    I have met many people who have told me they said the “sinners prayers” yet they have never made any changes in their lives that exhibits anything has happened.  They continue living as they did before.  Personally, (and I’m not the judge) I find it difficult to believe that they had a genuine born again experience.  Others I have met have changed dramatically.  If you have been born again, you have a destiny.  Pray that God will fulfill that destiny.
Be blessed,
